2014

Happy 2014 everybody! The merry month of January has already passed us by, and I hope that it was a wonderful month for everyone! For my part, the first month of the year brought me more experience as an intern in an ad agency. There were fun times and there were hard times, so I guess I hit 2014 off well ;) .

The Lunar New Year of the Horse is in full swing and ye gods, has it been busy! I had a time of it; yearly visits from family friends and relatives, constant house cleaning, and snacking on yummy homemade cookies! Will upload photos soon, so do look out for them. I'm also in the midst of preparing some double happiness for the much missed Wallpaper Wednesdays. It's going to be absolutely peachy!

Internship Hiatus

I've been on a great deal of hiatuses this year, but I suppose that's a good thing, yes? Because that means real life has been eventful. Not working out the way I expected, maybe, but eventful nonetheless.
It may interest on or the other that I am interning at TBWA for 3 months (that's December to end of February next year). I've been here for two weeks now, and so far it's been a very learning experience, a sneak peak into the working world that was previously clandestine to me. I've met a lot of nice people, though I think my social awkwardness from years of being a recluse is now showing to be my Achille's heel. That being said, training from living frugally on campus has helped me to survive (lol).

Anyway, to all my other classmates who are now interning, good luck and stay healthy! Don't forget to drink lots of water and suck lots of mints, because the dry air in the office is akin to sandpaper to your poor throats. To everyone else, have a happy happy holiday season and see you soon!

Temporary Hiatus

Hello everyone,

Just wanna drop a line (or two) here to let you know I will be on a temporary hiatus of one month. I may post on and off if I find the time to, but there will be no Wallpaper Wednesdays for awhile. It's the beginning of the semester and it may interest you that I am now in London for my uni's Global Classroom session (yes, it's that thing all over again). I've just spent my first night here, and already I've been blessed to meet great people, wonderful weather, and a smooth journey. Here's hoping that keep up till I return to sunny Malaysia!

Wallpaper Wednesday: Summer Popsicles!

Hello again, folks! I'm back with happy news. I've been dabbling in pattern making (it's fun, try it sometime!) and really, I can't explain the happy feeling I get when I come up with something that looks pretty, over and over! It's a bit of a hit-and-miss thing right now, as I'm just trying out whatever I fancy, but I'm still loving the results.

I've also just recently discovered the magical paint/pencil/blob paint tool in Adobe Illustrator, which is mad because I've been using AI for many a semester and I've only found the tool now. I guess we all learn something new everyday :D. The best part of the tool is that I can now use my tablet a lot more, and still produce happy vector lines with a more personal touch. Yay!

So because I am happy with the results of my recent playing at patterns and my discovery of the paint tool in AI, I've decided to make a regular segment here on my blog (a first!). I think it's a good way to encourage me to not slack off blogging, even during my busier moments. Wallpaper Wednesday will start off bi-weekly (ever first and last Wednesday of the month), where I will post up device-ready wallpapers for YOU! 8). You can now have burst of happiness every mid-week or so ;).

Out of the blue...

I've been silent, silent, silent. The new semester has commenced, and I have to say things are being busy even before I can get my mind used to the idea. Soon enough I'll be so bored I'll blog 3 posts consecutively in a day. 

Anyway, Chinese New Year has come and gone, and it was a fairly fun one for me. How did yours go? Was it filled with red packets, red clothes, red decorations, and crazy big-booming firecrackers? Whatever it is, hope the Snake year 2013 will bring everyone much luck and love :). Cheerio~!

It's been such a busy busy last-month-of-2012 for me, to the point that I barely saw December passing me by. Before I knew it, it was suddenly my birthday and suddenly it's 2013 and it's another whole year to my birthday again! 2012 has been filled with so much activities, and yet I still have so many ends to knot before I can sit down and find time to collect my thoughts and look back over the year.

Well, it is the beginning of the new year, and, to quote from I Capture The Castle, 'beginnings are good times'. The year will begin very happily for me indeed, for it may be nice to know that I am moving house! It is obviously the main reason why I only have a single blog post in December, amongst other things. I'm very excited as I'm finally having a room to call my very own. I have much plans to spruce things up for it, but I can see that it will take a long time and determination and hard work for said plans to succeed. 

Anyway, for this new year, I hope that all undertakings will be safe and smooth-sailing for everybody! If there was something I learnt from 2012, it'd be to embrace the moments. Don't worry so much about the future until the present slips away from you. At the same time, plan ahead; do things now that your future self will thank you for later. And I suppose for me, a new year resolution is to earn money, and keep a tight leash on my short temper! It won't be easy, especially when my imagination and thoughts are apt to spiral completely out of control before I can even stop myself. But even so, I will try, and remembering how much I love those I care for will help me through, I'm sure :). What are your new year resolutions? Here's to hoping we will succeed in fulfilling all of them!

It's Alive!

After the days of silence from me, I am back with much to say...AND THE NEW BLOG! *pops champagne bottle* 

Behold the breathtaking 360° makeover. From the bold Oriental, monochromatic reds of yesterday:

To the soft, pastel of the present:

It's pretty darn shocking, even for me, lol. All the pale turquoise and dusty coral. The previous blog felt so bold and in-your-face. This new one feels like a soft pillow. What on earth came over me? XD. 

Here comes facts. All the graphics were made by me: the header, sidebar headers, and buttons. It looks so soft and Copic like, don't you think? I guess it'd come as a shock to many that both main and side headers were coloured in Photoshop ^__^. I wanted the header to be a garland with things that I like inside it. That's why you see books and markers and Blooworm and Cauliflower smiling at you :D. After almost done colouring I realized it looked a bit dull, so I added the glitter texture for that wee bit of bling. 

I had to do a lot of homework to get the elements in exactly where I want them to go, seeing as I'm such a n00b in html/CSS. Followed a whole bunch of tutorials to do things like changing the sidebar margins, removing borders, amongst others. Made me realize just how much of n00b I am. But hey, I got the job done, right? I should pat meself on the posterior XD.

Did you see Totowo by the way? Did you did you? Isn't he adorable? ^w^.

It might turn out odd, though, if I got into major rant mode and swore my head off in this pretty blog. Guess it's another way to curb my temper! But even if I do, it shouldn't really matter since it's my blog after all and I can do whatever I want in here. I could jiggle about in a bikini made of bacon and no one could stop me. Not that I would jiggle about in a bikini made of bacon, but yeah. You know what I mean. Haha.

Have you any suggestions/comments to improve my blog? It'd be nice to know. I have so many things I want to blog about now that I'm free from the heavy assignments. It's time for the next half of the semester where we all go crazy for final assignments, but it's still in the sketching process so I guess everyone's taking it easy. Be prepared to see a bunch of posts coming your way in awhile more, lol.
